മൂന്ന് വർഷത്തെ 'ടൂർ ഓഫ് ഡ്യൂട്ടി'ക്ക് സിവിലിയന്മാരെ റിക്രൂട്ട് ചെയ്യാൻ ഇന്ത്യൻ ആർമി ആലോചിക്കുന്നു യുവാക്കളെ മൂന്നുവർഷത്തേക്ക് ഓഫീസർമാരായും മറ്റ് റാങ്കുകളിലുമായി വിവിധ ജോലികൾക്കായി ആകർഷിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള നിർദ്ദേശം ഇന്ത്യൻ ആർമി പരിഗണിക്കുന്നു. രാജ്യത്ത് ദേശീയതയും ദേശസ്നേഹവും വളർത്തുന്നതിനായി ആണ് മൂന്നുവർഷത്തേക്ക് 'ടൂർ ഓഫ് ഡ്യൂട്ടി' (ToD) എന്ന പദ്ധതി നിർദ്ദേശിക്കപ്പട്ടത്. കരസേനയിൽ ചേരാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കാത്ത, എന്നാൽ താൽക്കാലിക കാലയളവിൽ സൈനിക ജീവിതം അനുഭവിക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന യുവാക്കളുടെ വികാരം മനസ്സിലാക്കാനുള്ള ശ്രമമായാണ് ഈ നിർദ്ദേശം. ഈ പുതിയ കര്‍മ്മപദ്ധതി നിർദ്ദേശം അംഗീകാരം ലഭിക്കുകയാണെങ്കിൽ സെലക്ഷൻ മാനദണ്ഡങ്ങളിൽ യാതൊരു മാറ്റവും ഉണ്ടാകില്ല. തുടക്കത്തിൽ 100 മുതൽ 1000 ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരെ പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി നിയമനത്തിനായി പരിഗണിക്കുന്നതന്ന് കരസേന വക്താവ്അറിയിച്ചു. നിലവിൽ, കരസേന, ചെറുപ്പക്കാരെ ഹ്രസ്വ സേവന കമ്മീഷന് കീഴിൽ 10 വർഷത്തേക്ക് നിയമിക്കുന്നു, അത് 14 വർഷം വരെ നീട്ടാം. എന്നാൽ പുതിയ കര്‍മ്മ പദ്ധതി നിർദ്ദേശപ്രകാരം, മൂന്നുവർഷത്തേക്കാണ് 'ടൂർ ഓഫ് ഡ്യൂട്ടി' യുടെ കീഴിൽ റിക്രൂട്ട് ചെയ്‌യ
